Raphinha will start for Brazil against Australia in Friday’s friendly in Townsville, coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed while naming his XI. He said continuing to use players who featured at the World Cup can help younger teammates progress.
Brazil’s announced XI is Hugo Souza; Matheuzinho, Marquinhos, Vitor Reis and Douglas Santos; Danilo and Bruno Guimarães; Estevão, Raphinha, Endrick and Vini Jr.
Ancelotti said Raphinha was doing “spectacular things” in a position that had not previously been his, while Vinícius might not be at his best; he said both would be fundamental to Brazil’s future. Brazil are scheduled to play Australia twice before travelling to India for a third friendly during the international break.
