Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report says the Lakers should target Clippers wing Derrick Jones Jr., whose final-year salary is $10.5 million. No deal is reported; the Lakers are one player over the roster limit, and GM Rob Pelinka said trades remain possible before the season.
Pincus suggested a package built around Knecht, LaRavia and Hardy, while noting the Clippers would prioritize draft considerations. Jones was a productive teammate of Luka Dončić in Dallas during the Mavericks’ NBA Finals run; Pincus cited his athleticism, defense and three-point shooting.
The Lakers had pursued Jonathan Kuminga for a starting power-forward role, but he agreed to a two-year, $13 million deal with Minnesota that includes a player option.
