Kentucky linebacker Alex Afari Jr., who chose to return for his final college season, played 32 snaps in the Wildcats’ win over No. 9 Texas A&M—his first game with substantial playing time this season, after three snaps against Youngstown State and none against Alabama.
Afari said he stayed because Kentucky was where he started and where he wanted to finish. He praised the new staff’s energy and accountability, and said defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Jay Bateman’s aggressive scheme involves frequent blitzes and coverage assignments against tight ends and running backs.
