At a Fan Expo Canada panel earlier this month, “Reacher” star Alan Ritchson said studios call him to stop discussing politics publicly and Sony had told him not to. He made the remarks jokingly.
Ritchson also claimed Amazon Prime Video killed a “Reacher” storyline based on a book in which Jack Reacher kills his way through a white supremacist militia camp. Replying to a disappointed fan on Threads, he said he had pushed for the adaptation and wrote, “I had it approved until someone got re-elected,” suggesting he linked the decision to Donald Trump’s return to office. Fox News Digital said it contacted Sony and Amazon Prime Video for comment.
Christian Toto of Hollywood in Toto criticized Ritchson’s political comments, saying they could turn audiences away and that the actor was undermining his own projects.
