AI power demand may help GE Vernova amid Anthropic, OpenAI IPO plans

Motley Fool

GE Vernova may gain from rising AI power demand. Anthropic plans a November IPO after confidentially filing an S-1; OpenAI filed a week later and is likely to go public next year. GE Vernova's Q2 2026 orders rose 88% year over year to $24.2 billion.

GE Vernova supplies gas and wind turbines, along with equipment for electricity transmission, distribution and storage. Its electrification segment booked more than $5 billion in data-center orders in the first half of 2026, more than twice its total for all of 2025.

Critics have accused AI companies of driving up electricity costs for other customers; OpenAI and Anthropic have committed to paying higher prices for power used by their data centers. The article puts GE Vernova at about 38 times forward earnings; its author calls the shares expensive but says the premium is justified.
