Seattle Mariners fans are urging John Stanton to fire manager Dan Wilson after the club missed the 2026 postseason, a steep drop from coming within one game of the World Series in 2025. The Mariners also lost two straight to the 62-98 Los Angeles Angels in their final series.
Fans' criticism came amid the possibility that Wilson would remain in Seattle because of his relationship with the players. Some fans said on social media they would stop supporting the Mariners if he returned; others called for his firing and for former manager Lou Piniella to return. Fans had also called for the team to be sold after the disappointing 2025 season.
