Atlanta Braves pitcher Chris Sale said he does not know whether his career revival would have happened had he stayed with the Boston Red Sox; he said the 2024 trade to Atlanta led him to a new trainer and other steps that helped him get healthy.
Sale went 18-3 with a 2.38 ERA and 225 strikeouts in 2024, winning his first Cy Young Award at age 35. Before the trade, injuries had limited him to 31 starts from 2020 through 2023; he made 20 starts in 2023.
Boston traded Sale to Atlanta before the 2024 season, receiving Vaughn Grissom and sending the Braves $17 million. Sale earned his 10th All-Star selection in 2026. He made the comments during an interview with Baseball Is Dead.
