A roughly 47-minute video of the Q&A at Apple's July 16, 2010, iPhone 4 press conference has surfaced on YouTube, more than 16 years later. It shows Steve Jobs, Tim Cook and Bob Mansfield answering reporters; the upload's source is unknown.
The Q&A had not previously been widely available as video; coverage of the event relied on live blogs, news reports and photos. At about 18:45, John Gruber asks the three executives whether they use cases on their iPhone 4s, and all hold up uncased phones. Jobs also says Apple waited to hold the press conference until it had collected more data.
Antennagate concerned a noticeable drop in cellular signal when bare skin covered a particular section of the iPhone 4's external antenna. Apple said a relatively small share of users was affected and a case could mitigate the issue. Its response included free cases for eligible customers, refunds for eligible case purchases, and a 30-day return window without a restocking fee. Critics argued the problem reflected a meaningful flaw in the antenna design.
