An 11-year-old boy died Thursday, three days after being found critically wounded by gunshots to his face and neck at a home in Norwest, northwest of Sydney. Police said three men were arrested; one was charged with concealing a serious indictable offence.
Isaac Bechara was charged with concealing a serious indictable offence, a charge that applies when an adult fails to report or conceals information about a major crime. He did not apply for bail at Blacktown Local Court on Tuesday, and bail was refused. The other two arrested men were later released pending further inquiries.
Five others at the home—four 18-year-old men and a 44-year-old woman—were not injured. Police said it was too early to determine what happened, though initial reports indicated shots were fired inside. Investigators were trying to locate the firearm; police said no gun was registered to the address. Superintendent Naomi Moore said police were considering possible organised-crime links among some people present, and that some were not cooperating.
