At Meta Connect on Wednesday, the company introduced its first Meta VR Glasses, priced at $1,299 and slated for spring 2027, plus $349 camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses and $449 third-generation Ray-Ban Meta glasses with longer battery life and improved microphones.
Meta says the VR glasses are five times lighter than its Meta Quest 3 and use a 5K display for video, games and work; their computing hardware, battery and storage sit in a tethered puck. Users can navigate with hand gestures or Meta's Muse AI. Meta says the glasses are IMAX Enhanced-certified; Disney+ movies and Microsoft's Xbox Cloud Gaming are coming, while Meta says it is working to add Prime Video and YouTube.
The camera-free Audio glasses offer up to 12 hours of battery life, music playback without headphones and chats with Meta's Muse AI. Camera-equipped Ray-Ban Meta glasses retain a recording-indicator LED, but the article says owners have tampered with it and that cities, states and businesses worldwide have restricted such glasses in some situations.
